The Best Home Remedy For Yeast Infection

2012
01.12

Welcome to my website, which reveals how a yeast infection home remedy will cure your yeast infection.

No matter how long it’s been bothering you, no matter whether you’re a woman or a man, and no matter what symptoms you have, I believe the best way to deal with a yeast problem is to use a yeast infection home remedy. I’ll start, if I may, by briefly explaining why.

(If you’d prefer to skip right now to my recommended yeast infection treatment, simply click here. It’s one I found after a lot of searching and questioning.)

I’m Maria Edwards, and I’m an experienced complementary medicine therapist. But although I have a background in healing, the main reason I run this blog is to help anyone who, like myself, has been troubled by Candida (yeast) problems and would prefer to use one of the many yeast infection home remedies available to cure it.

So, first of all, a bit of my history: I was shocked when my father, who we all thought was being cared for very well in his old age, was diagnosed with a pretty bad case of thrush (oral yeast infection) on a routine check up. The doctor prescribed a standard antifungal drug – fluconazole - which made my dad really ill. And I should have seen that coming….

Some months before, I’d developed a genital yeast infection, which my partner and I kept passing between us during lovemaking. A popular yeast infection home remedy hadn’t worked because we didn’t know that both of us needed to take it. (That seems obvious now, but at the time we just had no idea one partner could infect another during sex.) So I called on the doctor, and he dished out a powerful drug – fluconazole.

Soon after taking this drug, I experienced some unpleasant side effects: palpitations, headaches and stomach upsets. But I didn’t connect these symptoms with the yeast infection treatment until I saw my dad develop the same symptoms – but much worse.

That was the point at which the penny dropped. I decided enough was enough, and I started looking for an effective yeast infection home remedy. The great news is I found one, and it will work for you! It is – drum roll please …… Yeast Infection No More by Linda Allen. It’s the best, quickest, most comprehensive, most powerful and effective yeast infection home remedy available. Period.

OK, why is it so good? Well, first, it has decades of success behind it. It’s the kind of thing grandma knew all about (nice one, granny…..we’ve lost so much of that tradition).  But not only that, it has a sound scientific basis. (I have a masters science degree, so I’m pretty good at separating truth from fiction and cutting through the BS.)

So, after looking at all the yeast infection home remedies out there (well, I think I did - there are a lot, as you may know!) it was clear to me the very best of them is Yeast Infection No More. Yes, yes, but why, I hear you say? If you look at my top ten reasons, below, it will all become clear why this really is the most powerful, quick and, above all, effective natural remedy for yeast infection you can get. (Go here for a full review of Yeast Infection No More.)

1 Yeast Infection No More gives you a tried and tested, step-by-step, plan to success.

No other yeast infection home remedy gives you precise steps to follow in order to be yeast infection-free. Most yeast infection programs merely give vague guidelines about what needs to be done. With this system you get all the specifics. You are shown exactly what to do, how to do it, and when to do it – and Linda explains why you’re doing it, all in clear and easily understood language!

2 Yeast Infection No More  was written by a real yeast infection sufferer.

In fact, it was written by Linda Allen, a real person who suffered from this irritating condition for years, not a science student who knows nothing except what he or she read in a textbook. What’s more, it’s the result of thousands of dollars invested on testing possible yeast infection home remedy treatments (some of which worked, some of which didn’t) and more than 7 years of extensive research.

3 Yeast Infection No More is based on real results on real people.

This yeast infection home remedy is based on real results. Thousands of men and women previously living with yeast infection have cured themselves completely - once and for all – using the principles explained in this program – and that includes the author herself.

4 Yeast Infection No More is truthful and unbiased.

Linda Allen has devoted the last 7 years of her life to helping women and men with yeast infection win the war against misleading advertising, false claims, and unprincipled marketing scams in the online yeast infection home remedy market. Yeast Infection No More is straightforward, gives you the lowdown on how to eliminate yeast infection easily and quickly, and is written with honesty and integrity. Linda Allen has never been associated with any skincare, beauty or supplement magazine, and she is not affiliated with any of them.

5 Yeast Infection No More is not just about reducing symptoms; it’s about establishing health and inner balance.

Clearing yeast infection by removing the root cause depends on your body being in a state of balance. Yeast infection is not a vaginal problem or disease, nor is it a problem with your skin, regardless of what your doctor tells you. You can see this principle in action when you set about restoring your body back to a state of balance where no disease can exist - yeast infection included! This is one of the most exciting aspects of Yeast Infection No More (click to see the full program).

In other words, this is a natural remedy for yeast infection in every way.

6 Yeast Infection No More is not just about special nutrition.

In fact, this yeast treatment combines nutritional principles with a comprehensive cleansing program that will restore your gut, liver and kidneys to full health. It uses dietary supplementation, as well as mental and lifestyle plans, to bring your body back into balance. In short, it’s the perfect combination of  holistic yeast infection home remedies.

7 Yeast Infection No More doesn’t confuse the elimination of yeast infection symptoms with yeast infection cure.

Treating the symptoms of your yeast infection externally and fixing the root cause of the infection are completely different things. Sure, treating the symptoms of Candida is absolutely necessary because it can be an extremely irritating condition. And this natural remedy for yeast infection handles all the symptoms of yeast infection with a unique 12-hour treatment.

But to permanently cure yeast infection, you must neutralize the “yeast infection environment” and ensure it ceases to exist in your bodily system. This is the greatest thing about Yeast Infection No More – it is a permanent cure. And that’s why this is the most powerful and effective yeast infection home remedy available.

8 Yeast Infection No More is not a temporary quick fix.

Far from it. Even though many a yeast infection home remedy will work, it will probably only provide temporary relief from the symptoms of yeast infection: and the whole idea of curing Candida infection by treating the yeast infection symptoms is flawed. When you say that you’re going to treat your yeast infection, you also have to make sure that you don’t continue with your bad nutritional and lifestyle habits. In fact, the only way you’ll ever get rid of any kind of yeast infection permanently is to adopt new habits and keep them. This may be slightly uncomfortable in the beginning, but soon they’ll become a natural part of your daily routine and you’ll find keeping yeast away is easy, natural and highly rewarding.

9 Yeast Infection No More is simple.

There’s so much information on the internet that it’s natural to feel overwhelmed with conflicting theories and mind-boggling misinformation. Linda Allen’s goal in creating this system, based on effective yeast infection home remedies, was to avoid confusion and make dealing with yeast infection as simple as possible. Simpler strategies are easier to apply, and produce better results.

10 Yeast Infection No More offers 24-hour FREE email counseling.

Yeast Infection No More is the only yeast infection program that comes with a fantastic and exclusive 24-hour quality counseling service. There are no other similar offers on the internet. The Yeast Infection No More program is the perfecthome remedy for  yeast infection, not only because of the 9 reasons listed above, but also because of the personal guidance and support that Linda offers her customers.

She is dedicated to your success, and she will do anything she can to show you how to eliminate your yeast infection as quickly as possible, with the least amount of time and trouble, in a way that suits your individual needs and personal circumstances.

Many customers take the chance to enjoy daily correspondence with Linda; if you buy the program, I urge you to use this service, too. Linda is approachable and sympathetic. And best of all, she knows what she’s doing! You can find out more here.

The Simplest, Quickest Yeast Infection Home Remedy

2011
11.09

If you’re looking for a yeast infection home remedy which actually works, look no further! I’ve reviewed many of the internet cures so you don’t have to. And I can tell you right now, the best source of information I can find on curing your yeast infection with a reliable home remedy is here (click to see it now): Linda Allen’s program that will eradicate yeast infection once and for all – suitably named Yeast Infection No More.

Why is it so good? Well, first because Linda Allen knows what she’s talking about. She’s spent years working in the natural health field, and this has given her all the contacts, resources and information she needs to research the yeast infection cures that have been recommended over the years. (A search on the internet reveals hundreds of ideas about yeast infection home remedy treatments. You could waste months, if not years, checking them out.) Fortunately, researching & writing about natural health issues is what Linda does for a living. And – she suffered chronic yeast infections (aka Candida albicans) for years, so she could try these things out on herself. That means you can avoid the hassle of things that don’t work.

Second, she is a woman of integrity. I know this because I’ve spoken to her personally. I wanted to check out exactly why she’s writing about the best home remedy for yeast infection. I’d be very reluctant to recommend her work if it was primarily about making money – and yes, of course that’s how Linda makes a living (she’s an author and researcher) – and for that matter so do I – but there also needs to be a genuine interest in helping people. This kind of thing has to be done sincerely, from the heart, wanting to help people. At least, that’s what I believe, and I judge that Linda really does get a kick out of hearing from people whose long-standing yeast infection has cleared up quickly and easily when they’ve used the treatment Linda reveals in Yeast Infection No More.

Third, Linda’s program is holistic. It isn’t just about curing the symptoms of yeast infection, it’s about eliminating the root cause of Candida. This means her program combines an effective yeast infection home remedy (well, to be honest, several) with a system for detoxing the body that will purify and eliminate the imbalances which allow yeast infections to flourish. She also provides instructions on how to maintain good liver function, which is a crucial element in stopping yeast infections from returning.

If you believe that knowledge is power, then Linda’s program is the most powerful around. And while you don’t need to know the theoretical background to yeast infection before you deal with your own infection, you may find it helpful to read through the introduction in Linda’s program about why yeast infection develops. It astounded me, for example, to learn that yeast infections don’t just affect the external organs: the yeast lives in the gut as well, and its cells pervade the lining of the intestine, causing a problem known as leaky gut syndrome, which produces food intolerance, a variety of mental symptoms, and other unpleasant effects.

That’s the kind of reason why you need a holistic system, something that works in every part of your body, and that’s what Linda provides. As she says, it’s important to know that by the time a woman or a man has an external yeast infection on the genitals, or indeed anywhere else, the yeast has probably already grown out of control inside the body as well. That’s one of the reasons conventional over-the-counter medications don’t work: they can’t get everywhere in the body that the yeast infection has infested.

I also like the self-assessment test Linda provides, where you can score your symptoms and work out the likelihood that you do indeed actually have a yeast infection (there are some other conditions which can mimic yeast infection). That’s really helpful. You can find her program here.

What really impressed me about Linda’s yeast infection home remedy program is that it works on every level and it’s so easy to apply! There’s no messing about with complicated dietary regimes: this is no long-winded, impractical home remedy.

She starts with some simple remedies that will get rid of the symptoms of yeast infection in 12 hours. These are all things that are easily available, some of which you may have around the house already – for example, raw honey. I’m not going into why these things work – it’s much better that you get Linda’s program and read about it for yourself. Suffice it to say, work they do, and very quickly and effectively too.

After immediate symptom relief, Linda describes her treatment protocols for the longer term. As I’ve already suggested, this is a holistic program which tackles the problem at every level. What’s excellent about this is that she provides a quick and simplified treatment protocol for people with mild to moderate yeast infections, allowing you to get rid of your yeast infection once and for all in a period of 8 to 10 weeks. And that means a permanent cure with this yeast infection home remedy. Yes, a permanent cure.

The elements of this holistic program are:

1 simple dietary changes to maintain internal balance and prevent yeast infection flourishing (and let me assure you there’s absolutely nothing difficult about this; you won’t be required to eat nuts and rice all day, everyday!)
2 immune system enhancement, using nutritional supplements
3 detoxification of your system, parasite cleansing, and liver cleansing, using a simple detox diet for two or seven days, as you choose
4 anti-Candida (yeast) supplements
5 probiotic supplements to re-establish the correct bacterial balance of your body
6 stress control, sleep optimization, and exercise (and again this won’t be difficult, because Linda describes several options, one of which is certain to suit your lifestyle and personal requirements)
7 guidelines for hygiene, clothing and sex (there’s nothing alarming here either – you just need to make sure that you don’t get reinfected, perhaps from a sexual partner who is a “carrier” of a yeast infection without knowing it)
8 maintaining the right acid – alkaline balance in the body
9 stress control, and living in a more relaxed way – Linda includes a comprehensive section on lifestyle changes to reduce stress, and this is some of the best advice on this topic I have seen: it’s clear, concise and practical.

For much more severe cases of yeast infection, each of these elements is described in powerful detail, to give you the maximum chance of eliminating yeast infection once and for all. There are other elements to the program as well. Check the whole thing out here!

So how simple is it to use? Answer: extremely simple. But simplicity alone isn’t enough; the most important question is: “Does it work?”

One of the problems with the Internet, of course, is that it’s provided a great opportunity to sell phony cures for all kinds of things. I took the trouble to ask Linda if I could contact some of the people who testified on her website about how effective her yeast infection home remedies are, and I can report that to the best of my knowledge and belief, these testimonials are all genuine.

And they certainly represent only a small quantity of the emails and letters which Linda showed me. So I honestly believe that I can’t do better for you than to recommend Linda’s home remedy for yeast infection. I’ve looked at several of the other top-sellers on the Internet, and they are simply nowhere near as comprehensive (for example, Linda’s program consists of 240 pages of material written in an easy-to-follow, comprehensive way, set out for you in sections so that you read only what you need or want to.)

Are there any downsides? Possibly, but not of presentation or content, in my opinion. There is a section on identifying food allergens, which is really important in helping to eliminate yeast infection, but you will need a certain amount of dedication to identify the foods that you’re allergic to. I suspect for most people this will be the most challenging section of the program, because it requires them to eliminate certain foods from their diet and then check what happens when they’re reintroduced. I would say that if you’re organized and methodical, it’s going to make this part of the program a lot easier.

Linda also recommends a fast (not eating for two or three days) as a way of eliminating toxins from the system, and I think this simply isn’t practical for a lot of people – it’s probably much better to take the three day cleanse option which she describes; this would fit a normal lifestyle much better.

That said, this is far and away the most comprehensive system for curing yeast infections I’ve ever seen. You can check it out here: Yeast Infection No More.

Yeast Infection – Popular Home Remedies for Vaginal Yeast Infections

2011
11.07

Yeast infection is an unpleasant and uncomfortable affliction. There are many pharmaceutical products on the market, but many of them have side effects which can be worse that the problem they claim to solve. Why not try out some of nature’s very own home remedies for yeast infection, remedies which should clear up the problem nicely?

First of all, consult your doctor to make sure that you do indeed have a yeast infection. (If you have a bacterial infection, then these treatments will not be effective and you will leave the bacterial infection untreated.)

This is how the treatments work in the case of vaginal infections with yeast (Candida albicans). The vagina stays healthy and yeast-free through a sophisticated balancing act. Our bodies contain many different micro-organisms, which are useful in helping to break down our food intake and remove toxins. Usually, these colonies of different species coexist in balance with one another, but sometimes this balance is disrupted, often by stress or the use of prescription antibiotics. This is when some of the microorganisms overpopulates and become a problem. Some natural home remedies have properties which mean they can restore the correct balance.

When an imbalance occurs in the vagina, colonies of Candida albicans can get out of control, leading to yeast infection, which manifests itself as a whitish discharge, burning or itching, and a yeasty kind of smell.

Home Remedies for Yeast Infection

Yogurt

Take a tampon, dip it in yogurt and insert it into the vagina, twice daily. Continue this remedy until the symptoms go away and then for an extra day after that. Yoghurt contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, a friendly bacterium, which displaces the Candida albicans and restores the balance of different microorganisms. In order to prevent the reoccurrence of yeast infection, include yogurt in your regular diet.

Tea Tree Oil

Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of olive oil or sweet almond oil. (Tea tree oil is extremely strong and can cause inflammation if it is used in its undiluted form.) Pour the mixture on a tampon and insert in the vagina to provide effective relief. Tea tree oil has anti fungal properties and will control the yeast infection and also reduce the itching sensation.

Garlic

For non-vaginal yeast infections, make a garlic paste and apply directly on the affected parts. Another method is to dilute garlic oil with Vitamin E oil and a few drops of coconut oil and apply the blend to the affected skin. While garlic oil controls the infection, Vitamin E oil helps to fortify the skin and coconut oil provides several fatty acids that prevent the spread of infection.

Coconut Oil and Cinnamon Oil

These are two very effective natural remedies for yeast infections. Apply one or both to the infected areas three times a day to eliminate yeast infection. Both oils have effective anti-fungal properties which will subdue the yeast in the locality.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Take a hot bath with some added cider vinegar to relieve skin irritation and itching caused by a yeast infection. It also arrests the growth of yeast and restores the body’s natural pH balance.

But the best way to deal with yeast infection is to prevent it happening. Try to eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables and avoid processed foods. Particularly avoid refined flour and refined sugar, which can aggravate yeast infection. Drink plenty of water to flush out the urinary tract and help to control the spread of the yeast infection. Also drink vegetable juices to boost immunity levels and help you fight off infection.

Yeast Infection Home Remedies – The Background

2011
09.13

Yeast infection is an infection produced by any of the 150 0r so species of Candida fungus – all of these are yeasts – but infection with Candida albicans is most common. (Normally referred to as a yeast infection or candidiasis, this problem is also scientifically known as candidosis.)

Candidiasis covers both superficial infections, for example oral thrush and vaginal yeast infection, and also whole body infections, which are potentially serious diseases referred to as candidemia – however, these are typically are seen only in immunocompromised men and women, for example cancer or AIDS patients. The more minor yeast infections produced by Candida albicans which lead to localised soreness and inflammation are common in a large segment of the population.

Although usually attributable to the presence of opportunistic Candida fungi, the term candidiasis covers some diverse syndromes that vary in their causes and outcomes. Candida infections are treatable and generally result in minimal problems like itching and soreness; indeed, candidiasis is generally a quite localized infection of the skin, including possibly the genitalia. Candida albicans is a very common cause of vaginitis, and can additionally develop on a man’s genitals. Indications of a yeast infection on a man’s genitalia include red patches close to the tip of the foreskin, scaling skin, and serious itchiness. Candidiasis of the penis can produce a white colored pus-like discharge.

In yeast infections of the penis, the precipitating factors include sex with an infected woman: in the western world, approximately three fourths of females are affected by vaginal yeast infections at some point in their lives.

(Infections of Candida in the mouth or vagina are often called “thrush”: orally, this is normally only a problem in infants, and is quite normal.)

Signs and symptoms of candidiasis may vary according to the area of the body infected. An infection of the vulva may trigger extreme irritation and soreness. Yet in a recent scientific paper it was revealed that only one third of women who were self-administering some kind of medication for a yeast infection actually had such an infection.

A variety of natural yeast infection home remedies have been suggested for Candida, including yoghurt, garlic, and natural essential oils like tea tree. You can read about them in Yeast Infection No More! by Linda Allen, the only yeast infection home remedy I recommend.

Yeast Infection In Men

2011
03.21

People sometimes ask me if men can get yeast infection. Well the answer is “Yes, they can”, but I have to say that it is much less common in men than in women. Yeast infection or thrush, or by its medical name, Candidiasis, is a fungal infection of a particular type of yeast. It takes hold in the human body, particularly in a niche, usually the genital area. With such embarrassing symptoms, no wonder many men turn to a yeast infection home remedy for the cure of Candida albicans infection.

Symptoms of yeast infection in men are quite different from those in women. Some men suffering from penile yeast infection may show no symptoms at all, but for others, these symptoms can be quite intense. The symptoms are itching, soreness, discharge and swelling. The head of the penis can itch terribly and can turn a reddish or vermillion colour.

Sufferers often get small blisters and soreness on or around the penis. Men infected with yeast infection sometimes experience penile discharge in the form of a white, clumpy substance, much like the secretions that infected women discharge. Also male sufferers get itchy bumps or slight swellings. These can be very similar to the symptoms of herpes.

These swellings indicate the onset of chronic penile yeast infection. Fortunately, if you want a yeast infection home remedy there are many good ones to choose from. Here are some that I recommend.

Follow a low carbohydrate diet with very little sugar and yeast products. Sugar and yeast are substances, which feed the disease, so cut them out. Also too much meat or too much fat weakens the body and encourages yeast infection. Always try to keep up a healthy diet, which will improve your health and hopefully keep you clear of yeast infection.

Raw garlic is effective in reducing yeast growth and helpful in curing infection. Eat a clove every day until symptoms go down. In particularly bad cases, you should apply a cut clove directly to the infected area for about two minutes to soothe the itching sensation.

Another home remedy suitable for yeast infection is plain yogurt – this will help get rid of the bad bacteria and put in good probiotics. Also it can be applied to the infected area to provide effective relief. Just spread it about the infected area and wash it off after five minutes. Yogurt has live benign bacteria, which will fight off the yeast.

Similar to yogurt is a substance called acidophilus available in powder or capsule form from your local health food store. Tis is a powerful home remedy for yeast infection.

Also drinking a glass of buttermilk daily will drastically reduce the chances of infection. Also it is important to eliminate things that encourage yeast infection to take a grip.

Wearing wet swimming trunks for long periods can lead to yeast infection, because the damp keeps in the heat and provides the right setting for yeast to grow. Also wearing tight underwear or wearing shorts made from synthetic fabrics. This again retains warmth and moisture and affords a perfect place for yeast to grow. So always, change and dry off immediately after swimming and always wear loose fitting cotton undershorts.

These remedies are natural yeast infection cures, but remember – if the old home treatments for yeast infection don’t work, you may need to see a doctor! I recommend effective home cures first, and medcial aid if needed. If you give the remedies listed above a try, you will hopefully notice the difference fairly quickly.

Yeast Infection Home Remedy

2010
12.06

There are lots of home remedies for yeast infection, commonly known as Candida or ‘thrush’, but the first thing is to understand what this common problem of yeast infection is all about, so we can talk about prevention and cure.

Yeast infection can be found on men, women and even children, and it is possible in many parts of the human body regardless of age; those areas include underarms, the genitals, between toes, and so on. For women it seems to frequently affect the vagina and although Candida is not an especially dangerous problem, it can certainly be very uncomfortable and extremely irritating.

Candida albicans, or yeast infection, is made up of minute organisms, fungal cells, which live on the body. Yeast infection develops when these organisms increase far beyond the natural amount the body can tolerate. Usually, acidity in the vaginal secretions keeps the level of yeast low, but if the balance changes, which it can during menstruation, pregnancy, when using contraception, during periods of stress, or for some other reasons, the amount of yeast cells increases and causes the more obvious symptoms of infection.

The most common of these, at least in women, is itching and burning in the vagina. This begins as a mild irritability and increases slowly, until swelling and inflammation are obvious. The skin around the vulva can swell and may indeed become very sensitive to even the slightest contact. So the constant rubbing of the area against underwear, for example, may cause chaffing and this in turn will naturally increase the inflammation and discomfort. A woman often exeriences some kind of vaginal discharge, white and usually odourless. (By contrast, a bacterial infection will generally have a fishy smell, but yeast infection produces a light yeasty smell at the most.) There may also be some pain during intercourse or urination.

Some useful tips to avoid and reduce yeast infection: use natural fabrics next to the skin, such as cotton, and avoid wearing jeans as they can cause a build up of heat and moisture, ideal conditions for infection to spread. Obviously, avoid leggings and tights too. You should also see your doctor if you believe your yeast infection is not going away….especially if you have tried the home remedies below. Doctors usually recommend antifungal tablets, but you can always try some traditional cures.

Yeast Infection Home Remedy

Yogurt
Take a tampon, and apply yoghurt, then insert in the vagina, twice a day. The natural bacteria are the enemy of yeast cells. This is a well known and powerful home remedy for Candida infection.

Tea Tree Oil
Dilute a few drops of tea tree oil in a carrier oil such as olive oil. Pour the mixture on a tampon and use in the vagina to activate tea tree oil’s anti fungal properties. It’s a good idea to consult a doctor if you find this does not work, or if you have an allergy to tea tree oil.

Garlic
Mix garlic oil with Vitamin E oil and coconut oil. Garlic oil helps control yeast infection, and Vitamin E fortifies the lining of the vagina, while coconut oil helps prevent the infection from spreading.

These remedies will hopefully be effective and cure the yeats infection but if all fails, return to see your doctor!

Yeast Infection

2010
10.11

A yeast infection is caused by the growth of a fungus called Candida albicans, usually in a warm and moist area of the body. (Although many people find the idea of a fungal infection quite unpleasant, it’s worth keeping in mind that fungal infections are very common and quite natural. For example, infections such as athlete’s foot are also caused by a type of fungus.)

Yeast cells are actually present on human skin in all conditions, and they also occur naturally in moist areas of the human body including the vaginal area and the mouth. Under normal circumstances, the body’s normal balance of acidity and healthy bacteria keep the yeast cells in check. Indeed, between 20 and 50% of healthy women who do not show any signs of a vaginal infection will be carrying yeast cells in the vaginal area.

It’s only when something goes wrong with the natural balance of the body that yeast cells have an opportunity to multiply out of control; at this point the symptoms of the yeast infection will become obvious. In the vaginal area, the symptoms usually include inflammation and itching, as well as some vaginal discharge. This itching can also spread to involve the labia and clitoris.  Men, too, are not immune from yeast infections, which they can pick up from an infected partner or when the balance of their body is disturbed in some way.

The most likely symptoms of a yeast infection in men is reddening and itching of the affected area. This may be apparent on the glans, under the foreskin if the man is uncircumcised, with redness, irritation and itching spreading quite quickly until the skin over the glans may begin to flake and peel. Another way in which yeast infections may appear is the condition we tend to call “Jock Itch.” Although this mostly occurs in men, it can affect both sexes: it’s primarily seen in the groin as an itchy red or pink rash. It can spread to the inner thighs, the genitals, including the scrotum and penis, the vaginal opening and labia in women, and even the anus. It is caused by irritation from tight underwear, excessive moisture or sweating, allergy problems, infection with Candida albicans or bacterial growth.

An infection of the vagina is probably the most common form of a yeast infection in women. It can be caused by overgrowth of yeast which already present in the vagina when a woman takes antibiotics or other immunosuppressive drugs. It’s also possible for yeast infections develop after some kind of injury to the inside of the vagina, perhaps during sexual activity (such as a small scratch which may not even be noticed at the time), when a woman is taking chemotherapy, or a cortisone-based medication such as prednisone, if she has diabetes mellitus, if she is pregnant, or if she’s taking oral contraceptives.

Vaginal douches have also been blamed for the development of yeast infections because they disturb the natural acidity of the vagina, which normally keeps yeast in check. It’s important to note that yeast infections with Candida albicans are quite natural and occur in almost all women at some point in their life. It’s not a sexually transmitted infection since it is present in the natural environment of healthy vaginas and since yeast infections can develop in women who are totally celibate. This means there need be no shame associated with the development of a yeast infection, and it’s important to get effective treatment of some kind as soon as possible.

Symptoms of vaginal yeast infection

You need to be aware that there are other conditions besides a yeast infection that can cause the following symptoms. However, if you have been with one sexual partner, and have no other illnesses, the following symptoms do most likely indicate that you have a yeast infection:

1 itching in the area of the vagina and vulva

2 a sense of burning or soreness

3 pain during sexual intercourse or when you urinate

4 vaginal discharge — however, this may not always be present, but if it is present with a yeast infection it will usually have no odor and it will look white and thick in appearance and texture. However, just to prove that nothing is certain when it comes to conditions like this, it’s worth taking note of what one woman said in the patient forums on the web: “The discharge was unlike what I had read about in previous years. Mine was not thick, like cottage cheese. It was thin, white, pasty with a yeast-like odor (mild). Within a few days, the itching started and got so bad that I was inflamed everywhere, and a light staining of blood appeared on my underwear. It did not burn when I urinated, however, itching and discomfort followed urination 100% of the time. It lasted more than 1 week.”
5 you may also have pain in the area of the vulva.

In about 5% of women, recurrent yeast infections may occur — perhaps four or more times in a year, and when these are not related to the use of antibiotics, it’s certainly a good idea to see a qualified medical practitioner. To establish a diagnosis of yeast infection with a hundred percent certainty, a doctor will take a specimen from the affected area and send it to a laboratory for cultivation. This is the quickest and most effective way to establish a diagnosis, although most women who are familiar with their own body will be aware when they have a yeast infection, since it’s a common feminine problem.

Treatment of yeast infections

Vaginal yeast infection and infection of the vulva are commonly treated with antifungal medications which may be applied in or around the vagina or taken orally by mouth. The classic prescription medications for these infections include butoconazole, also known as Femstat 3, clotrimazole, also known as Lotrimin, miconazole, also known as Monistat, and terconazole, also known as Terazol 3. The best way of administering these compounds is through direct application is a vaginal pessary or cream on the affected area. Oral medications tend to have rather a lot of side effects.

Over-the-counter treatments are common option which many women use to treat vaginal infections. Canesten is perhaps the best-known cream for yeast infection of the genital area.

Home remedies

Many women report that they experience a yeast infection when they are stressed or tired, but since we all have a different physiology, the triggers in every woman may be slightly different. For example, some woman are convinced that high-carbohydrate and sugar diets encourage the growth of yeast, while others believe that if they eat bakery products made with yeast they experience a yeast surge as a result. Others report that if they stop using vaginal douches the natural balance of the vagina is re-established and yeast infections come to an end. Others have reported that using lubrication for sexual intercourse helped reduce the number of infections, and cures mentioned by other women include natural compounds as diverse as garlic and yoghurt.
